The School of Management, University of South Australia (UniSA) is an internationally recognised leading provider of events programs. Master of Management (Arts and Cultural Management) - This is the longest running program of its kind in Australia. Catering to those who already bring valuable experience to the table, the program focuses on developing skills in planning, people management, strategy and innovation in the Arts and Cultural Event sector. The cohort participates in a synergistic exchange of ideas and experiences on a national level that provides depth to the program. They also benefit from the value of using real-life work problems and issues as study projects and assignments. A number of graduates have used the project focussed opportunities to develop, market, finance and launch their own events. As just one example, one student managed, sought funding for and then ran a three-day Indigenous Arts Festival in Port Augusta, South Australia in 2008, called Yarnballa Cultural Festival. Bachelor of Tourism and Event Management - This is an exciting new undergraduate program that provides graduates with not only a diverse set of skills unique to the convention and events industry, but also equips them with the business acumen to become leaders in their chosen career. Students can choose from electives that focus on conventions and exhibitions, and event management, event marketing, festival management, and many others. This degree was borne from intense industry consultation, and in direct response to the State and National industry’s need for management-focussed graduates with excellent analytical and problem solving-skills. Students are provided with fantastic opportunities to apply their skills immediately through direct work experience, and are exposed to the industry via guest lecturers and a variety of site visits to key event venues. |
